From The Ground Up

On April 10-13, I attended GCF Youth LIVE's High School Camp for 2014. I'm going to be honest, I had a lot of fun. Though, there wasn't that much activities unlike last's years camp, Share316. The only thing that was a bit different from last year was the lack of the gawgaw fight, commitment night, and we were given these things called kits. It was a small drawstring bag with the camp manual and a devotional book.

It was held in Mt. Makiling Recreational Center. The place wasn't as big as CCT, but it was big enough for all of us. The rooms were nice because they were bunk beds and I was on the top bunk! The rest rooms of each rooms had separate shower and toilet so that one person could use the shower while one could also use the toilet. This time, we don't have our buzz group as our roommates. All of us had a counselor in each room too. Though the only thing that I didn't like about the rooms was the fact that you could hear the flushing of the room above you. It was also weird because the guy's rooms were above the girl's rooms.

Now, onto the focus of the camp. The plenaries were really intense. With that, I realized a lot of things and I also learned a lot. There was only one speaker for each plenary, unlike last year, we had different speakers for each plenary. We had to take notes for this each plenary because in the camp manual, there were notes and it was a fill-in-the-blanks kind of thing. I want to thank Pastor BJ Sebastian for speaking in all our plenaries. God spoke through him and it made some campers accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and saviour and made most of the campers recommit.

The third night was my most favourite. It was commitment night, praise and prayer, and no lights out. On commitment night, we wrote out commitments in a piece of paper and tied them to LED balloons. After that, we let them go and it was a beautiful sight. It was like that scene in Tangled where Eugene and Rapunzel were watching the lanterns. For Praise and Prayer, I prayed for more people than people prayed for me. Most of the time, I was praying for someone rather than standing there just watching people pray for eachother. I felt God's love through all of my friends' prayers. During worship, I just had a full heart of worship and praise because of everything that has happened. Everyone was jumping and singing and just worshipping like crazy. During no lights out, my friends and I literally did not sleep at all. We stayed up from 7AM to 6AM. I was out of my mind and we all slept on the grass. It seemed like we were drunk, but we were only drunk on God's love.

That's all I have to say for From The Ground Up. I had fun and I made new friends and I got more love letters than I did last year.

I waited until the camp photos were out and the college campers were in camp just so that I wouldn't spoil anything.

Here's my awesome buzz group with Ate Alyssa Ang as our buzz group leader!

Here's all of the campers and the camp staff!
