Hair Journey

2016 was the year that my hair had an adventure. I felt like it went through a lot more than I actually did. I don't exactly know why I did it but I guess I just wanted to do something new with it. I guess the closest thing I've ever done to change my hair style prior to this year was just cutting it short and ending up with a shoulder-length bob, then just growing it past my chest until I was annoyed with it. I also had my hair coloured around two years ago but until now it still hasn't faded.

The Undercut
I was originally planning on getting just a pixie cut but then I thought that undercuts look good on girls too! It was a pretty bold move, shaving half of my head, It was difficult to manage because the back part of my hair kept going to the side, and the longer part of my hair would sometimes make their way to the shaved side. This hairstyle also had its awkward stage where the shaved part grew a little bit and then it would be sticking out so I had to put wax on it.

Figuring out what to do with my hair was also pretty challenging since my hair length was uneven, but it was fun while it lasted!

The Boy cut
Four months was the amount of time I had to grow my hair out in time for school. I sort of made a mistake around April by having the side of my head shaved again. I was even thinking about having it shaved a third time but I just decided to let it grow so that it would be long enough for a pixie cut. Apparently, I really didn't have enough time for it to be a pixie cut. When I had my hair cut, I didn't expect it to turn into a boy-cut but I just accepted it because I looked cute.

Three months in, it grew weird. I had that awkward hair stage again.

The Pixie Cut!
I finally had my hair turned into a pixie cut! This time my hair looked more feminine and I loved it even more. My issue with my previous haircut was that it made me look like a boy, specifically my brother. In this one, I just look like him when I wake up. and when my hair is looking extra haggard and I'm not even making an effort to look presentable.

2016 was a rollercoaster ride, but I'm still thankful for the blessings among the rubble.

Here's to a happy new 2017!
