Okay, literally twenty minutes after I finished this book, I'm here right now typing this away in the evening of Christmas.
Here it is, my review for Claudia Gray's Ten Thousand Skies Above You. I read and made a review on the first book, A Thousand Pieces of You but it wasn't an entry on my blog, you can view it here.
Marguerite Caine, the daughter of two scientists who invented the Firebird, a groundbreaking device that lets one's consciousness travel to a different dimension, goes on another adventure with her best friend Theo to save her boyfriend Paul. Paul is splintered to pieces and they must venture out to different dimensions to put him back together.
First of all, the covers for this series are gorgeous. Second of all, I've shipped Marguerite and Theo from the very start.
I fell in love with the first book the moment I saw the cover and read the summary. After purchasing it, I almost immediately tore off the plastic wrapped around it and started reading. I couldn't put the book down. When I found out that this was going to have a sequel, I screamed then started jumping around praising God that Gray was working it.
At first, I was super excited and happy that I was back to reading again and of course, reading more about Marguerite and what she does and what she learns in this story. As I progress in the story, I may be over reacting but the book has much more ups and downs than the first one. There are times when you think that the moment you're reading is okay and everything seems to be normal but when you're travelling to different dimensions, literally anything can happen.
As for the romance part well... there's definitely more romance in this one. Marguerite's love for Paul is explained even better in this one. If I say more, I'll spoil so I'll leave it to that.
The story itself is very enticing and it keeps you at the edge of your seat. Most of the time I wonder what happens next then freak out the moment I find out. I worry sometimes when a character says they'll be okay I 50% doubt them. Like I said before, anything can happen.
I'm loving the series so far and I was dying to get my hands on a copy. When it was released I looked for it in bookstores everywhere. I'd like to thank my mom for giving me this book as a Christmas present. I recommend it to people who have obviously read the first book and is wanting more.
Gray really did a good job at this one. This book had me crying, screaming, jumping, and cursing under my breath.
UPDATE (December 27, 2015): I finished reading A Thousand Pieces of You a second time today. You know, when you look back, you start to realize the little details in the book that would make an appearance in Ten Thousand Skies Above You.
